TOURING LOGISTICS built around show day
Every decision we make — routing, pickup scheduling, driver assignment, venue coordination — works backwards from one fixed point: the show. Janco has been building touring logistics plans around that reality since 1975.
Planning That Moves With Your Tour
No two tours lock in the same way. Some itineraries arrive six to eight months out. Others come in a month before the first date, still in flux. Janco works with what you have.
When we get your itinerary — however firm or preliminary — we start building backwards. What's the first show date? Where does the gear come from? Is the vendor open on the weekend we need to load? Does the manufacturing schedule give us enough lead time to stage properly?
As routing shifts, we shift with it. Unconfirmed shows, venue changes, promoter negotiations — we've seen every version of a tour that changes shape before it solidifies. Our job is to stay ready for the show that actually happens, not just the one on the first draft.
Venue Coordination That Starts Before Load-In
By the time a Janco truck arrives at a venue, the driver already knows what they're walking into. Our lead drivers reach out to facility managers ahead of every stop — confirming dock access, checking for construction that wasn't there last year, understanding arrival windows, and identifying staging options when load-in time is still hours away.
In Los Angeles, that might mean arriving at 2 or 3 in the morning to stage before a 5am access window — because by the time traffic sets in, the opportunity to get positioned is gone. In cities like Spokane, it means knowing you're backing a 53-foot trailer off a live street with pedestrian traffic and no margin for error.
This isn't exceptional service. For Janco, it's standard operating procedure.
Whatever the Show Requires
Most tours move in standard 53-foot trailers. But most tours aren't all tours.
Janco has supported productions with drop deck trailers for set pieces that exceed standard trailer height — including a long run with Stomp, whose set requires that additional vertical clearance. We've hauled Warped Tour's climate-controlled supply trailers, run flatbeds for high-value concept cars at corporate events, used curtain-side trailers for cargo that needed coverage without visibility, and expedited box trucks into venues that a tractor trailer simply cannot access.
When Nessa Barrett's tour routed through intimate venues — churches, small spaces — that couldn't accommodate a semi, we pieced together box truck coverage from Los Angeles to Chicago to Brooklyn, then brought in one of our own drivers for the Toronto border crossing because we wanted direct control on the Canadian leg. That's not a special request. That's how we think about every tour.
Arena-level productions typically run 5 to 12 trucks depending on production value — video package, lighting rig, set design, and special effects all factor into that number. Theater and Broadway productions generally run 1 to 6 trucks. Every configuration is built around what the show actually needs.
All-Inclusive Rates. No Surprises.
The most common complaint production managers bring to us from other carriers is unexpected charges — detention time, parking, tolls, fees that weren't in the original quote.
Janco's rates are all-inclusive. Waiting at a venue is part of the job, not a line item. We build our quotes to reflect the full reality of what a tour requires, and we expect our drivers and contractors to operate the same way. You know what you're paying before the first truck rolls.
Trusted by Tours That Can't Afford a Bad Partner
Janco has supported some of the most demanding touring productions in North America — including Warped Tour, Stomp, and Government Mule — alongside Broadway productions, festival circuits, residencies, and emerging artists running their first national dates.
When unforeseen circumstances put one of our client's productions at risk mid-tour, we didn't manage it from the office. We got on a plane, showed up on site, sourced replacement parts, helped the crew get the show back in shape, and made sure the production manager had what she needed before the next load-in. That's the Janco standard.
The productions change. The standard doesn't.
